Intro

The Young Academy of Technology, Science and Innovation welcomes its inaugural cohort of new members, all of whom are excellent young researchers and STEM professionals within the eco-system of Danish technical research.

When the new Young Academy and Technology, Science and Innovation (YATSI) was founded in the spring of 2023, the organisation’s first act was to open for applicants. There were many fine applications, but only 16 were selected for the first cohort of members of the new academy. Selected from a highly competitive pool of candidates, the new members from both academia and industry demonstrate remarkable achievements, quality of research and dedication to their respective fields spanning a wide range of STEM-disciplines. As the first cohort they will be taking on a crucial role in setting the direction for YATSI and creating the foundation for strategic activities and impact of the academy.

At an early stage of their careers the selected members have already proved their worth in science and STEM research. The group is broadly composed in terms of representing both industry and academia, having an acceptable gender balance and geographical composition. The members also represent a broad range of the STEM spectrum concerning their educational and professional backgrounds.

This is promising for developing synergy in YATSI, which aims, among other things, to strengthen the linkage and the exchange between academia and industry, to strengthen the young researchers’ network and give a stronger voice to young researchers and STEM professionals –  in Denmark and internationally. YATSI’s raison d’être is precisely the international perspective, and therefore the organisation will have English as working language since YATSI is also for international young researchers working in Denmark.
